Questions
Is DaevaMeter free?
Yes. No account, no sign-in, no ads, no premium version. Donations are welcome, never needed.
Can using it get me banned?
This is what DaevaMeter does, so you can decide for yourself:
- it only reads the network traffic your PC already receives;
- it never reads or changes the game’s memory or files, never injects or automates anything;
- it never sends anything to the game.
Which servers does it work on?
AION 2’s Global servers: North America, Europe, South America and Asia. The Records count Global kills only.
How is it different from the game’s own meter (Ctrl+X)?
The game’s Combat Analysis shows your own damage. DaevaMeter shows your whole party: damage, healing and damage taken, every skill’s breakdown, rotations, replays, the boss’s frenzy countdown and Combat Assist.
Does it work in fullscreen?
Yes, but Borderless or Windowed suits an overlay best. In fullscreen, your mouse goes to the game wherever it isn’t over the meter.
How do I update it?
It checks for a new version each time it starts: click “Install and restart”. You can also run a newer installer over it.
My browser stopped the download (“Canceled”, “isn’t commonly downloaded”)
The installer is new and isn’t code-signed, so some browsers stop it the first time. In Edge: open your downloads (Ctrl+J), click ⋯ on DaevaMeter-Setup, then Keep, and Show more › Keep anyway if it asks again. Chrome and Firefox: the install guide.
Why does Windows warn me about the installer?
The installer isn’t code-signed, so Windows doesn’t know who made it. Click More info, then Run anyway. You can check the file is the one from this site with its SHA-256: the install guide shows how.
My antivirus flagged it.
Some antivirus programs distrust new, unsigned programs that read network traffic. Check the file’s SHA-256 against this site’s. If it matches and you trust it, restore it from quarantine.
How is DPS counted?
Each player’s damage divided by the fight’s length, from the first hit to the last. In dungeons you can count only the damage done to the boss (Settings › DPS Meter).
Where do the world bosses’ times come from?
From the game’s own map (open it with M in your land), from the bosses your meter sees die or come back, and from what other DaevaMeter players’ meters see on your server. Your meter shares what it sees too: your server, the boss and those times, nothing about you. Settings › Event Tracker › Share world boss times turns it off. Every server’s →
How do I open the interactive map?
Ctrl+Shift+M, the tray icon or the meter’s ⋯ menu › Interactive map. Nothing shows on it until you pick it with its list button; its size and look are in Edit HUD layout. The guide →
The map’s list keeps going away
It slides away a moment after the mouse leaves the map, and comes back as you left it when the mouse is on the map again. Its list button or its × closes it.
I closed a piece with its ×. How do I get it back?
The meter: Ctrl+Shift+D or the tray icon. The Event Tracker, the interactive map, the Pet Tracker and the character panel: the meter’s ⋯ menu or the tray icon.
Where is the meter when the game is closed?
Away with the game: when AION 2 closes, the meter and its other pieces leave the screen, and they come back when it starts. Settings and the tray icon stay, and reminders still come. To keep the pieces up: Settings › Window › Show without the game.
What is “Others” on the meter?
With everyone nearby shown (⋯ › Show), the game sends damage numbers only for you, your party and a few others. Others is what the boss lost to everyone else, from the boss’s own HP.
What are the Records, and is my name shown?
The Records collect DaevaMeter players’ Expedition, Transcendence and Raid boss kills: the fastest clears, each class’s DPS and the builds players use. Your name is shown only while Show names is on (Settings › DPS Meter › Records; on for a new install), and then only yours: everyone else by their class. Privacy →
Fixes
It says “Searching for game…” while AION 2 is running
Make sure Npcap is installed. Then try Settings › Capture › Run capture as admin.
I play with ExitLag or another ping reducer
It works with them since 2.0.5: within a few seconds the meter follows the game’s connection. Your ping is then worked out from the game’s own clock.
The numbers freeze, or update only every few seconds
Settings › Window › Drawing: turn off Use the graphics card and click Restart now. On some PCs a window drawn by the graphics card over the game isn’t refreshed on screen. DaevaMeter offers this fix itself when it notices.
The meter disappears when I click the game
Set AION 2’s display mode to Borderless or Windowed: true fullscreen draws over every other window. If it still happens, untick “Only show over Aion 2” in the tray menu.
Names show as “Class #1234”
The game sends names when players appear, or when you change zone or teleport: they fill in after your next teleport. Your party’s names come sooner.
Someone who isn’t in my party shows under “My party”
The meter follows the game’s party list. If it can’t read it (the game may have changed it), please record joining and leaving a party and send it on the Discord (see reporting a bug).
I can’t click the meter while playing
Hold the key that frees your cursor (Alt by default). Settings also opens with Ctrl+Shift+O or from the tray icon.
It doesn’t hide during game menus
“Hide during game menus” needs AION 2’s normal control mode. With the AION 1 style controls, the cursor always shows, so the meter can’t tell a menu is open: it stays off.
Combat Assist doesn’t show
It’s off until you turn it on: Settings › Combat Assist › Show Combat Assist (or Ctrl+Shift+B). It shows while you fight.
The interactive map doesn’t follow me as I walk
The game says where you are only now and then (a teleport, a skill on yourself), never as you walk. Put the minimap markers on your minimap and the map follows you live: Place on minimap in Settings › Interactive map (or Pet Tracker, or Node/Cube Tracking: it’s the same frame), then put the frame right on the minimap.
If its card in Settings says Windows doesn’t let DaevaMeter see your minimap, the meter has tried every way it has (the screen, the whole desktop, the game’s window) and tries again each minute. Restarting your PC usually helps; if it doesn’t, send your meter.log on the Discord.
The minimap markers are off
Settings › Node/Cube Tracking › Place on minimap, then put the markers’ frame right on the minimap. They line up by themselves as you move and use skills.
The map or the minimap markers went away
They step away where they can’t help: in a dungeon, at the character select and while the game is minimized. They come back by themselves when you’re out in the world again.
The interactive map shows another zone
It shows the zone the game says you’re in: Poeta, Verteron, Eltnen, Ishalgen, Altgard, Morheim or the Abyss. Started in the middle of a game, DaevaMeter works the zone out from the monsters around you; until then the map shows the zone you were last in, with a “?” after its name. In a town it keeps the last one. Pick another with the zone’s name at its top; pick your own zone there again to have it follow you.
My pets are missing
Start DaevaMeter before you log in to your character: the game sends your pet collection when you enter the world.
Reporting a bug
Start Settings › Capture › Record raw capture (or Ctrl+Shift+P), play until the problem happens, then stop it. Send the file (Settings › Capture › Open data folder › recordings) on the Discord with what you saw. The recording shows what the meter saw, so the problem can be found.
