Is it safe?
What DaevaMeter reads, what it doesn’t touch, and everything it sends, so you can decide for yourself.
What it reads
- The game’s network traffic, the same data your PC already receives: damage, healing, buffs, who is in your party, your pets and your currencies. It reads it with Npcap, a free capture driver (Wireshark uses it too).
- The minimap, only if you turn on the minimap markers: a few times a second, the small part of your screen where the minimap is, so the markers follow it. Never in a dungeon, at the character select or while the game is minimized or closed. Nothing of your screen is saved or sent.
- The mouse cursor and keys, only if you turn on Hide during game menus: while the game is in front, whether the cursor shows and whether a key or mouse button is held, to tell when a game menu is open. Nothing is recorded or sent.
- Its own files: your settings, saved fights, and your pets and characters as the game last sent them, in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DaevaMeter.
What it never does
- Read or change the game’s memory or its files.
- Inject anything into the game, or hook into it.
- Press keys or click for you, or automate anything.
- Send anything to the game. It only listens.
- Ask for your account, your password or any sign-in.
What it sends, and to whom
Only to the DaevaMeter server, and only this. Nothing goes to anyone else.
| When | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| When it starts | Its version | To tell you when an update is out |
| Every 5 minutes while it’s open | A random number it makes each time it starts (never saved), its version, and whether AION 2 is running | To count how many people use it |
| When it sees a world boss die or come back, or the game’s map says when one is back, if Share world boss times is on | Your server’s number, the boss and those times. Nothing about you | The world bosses’ timers on every DaevaMeter player’s meter, and this site’s |
| Every few minutes while the game runs, if Share world boss times is on | Your server’s number, to ask for its world bosses’ times | Your Event Tracker’s timers |
| After a Records boss kill, if Records is on | The fight’s numbers: damage, healing, skills, rotations, Gear Score and Combat Power, the replay. Everyone by their class; your own name only while Show names is on. Your server’s region, never the server | The Records on this site |
Records is in Settings › DPS Meter › Records: turn it off and no fight is ever sent. Share world boss times is in Settings › Event Tracker. Show names is on for a new install: turn it off and you’re shown by your class too. What the website keeps →
The installer
- Installs for your Windows user only, in one folder:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\DaevaMeter. - Downloads the app’s runtime (Electron, about 160 MB) once, from its official GitHub release, and checks it before using it.
- Offers Npcap from npcap.com, checks it’s the right file, then runs Npcap’s own installer.
- Uninstalls cleanly from Windows Settings › Apps, and asks whether to keep your settings and fights.
Why Windows warns you. The installer isn’t code-signed, so Windows doesn’t know who made it and says it “protected your PC”. Check the file below first if you like, then click More info and Run anyway.
Some antivirus programs also distrust new, unsigned programs that read network traffic. If yours flags it, check the file below before you trust it.
Check your file
In the folder you saved it to, open PowerShell and type the line below. The answer should match the SHA-256 here.
